School Aims

 

 

Curriculum Statement

 

We are committed to providing a broad, balanced, varied and challenging curriculum which is relevant to the lives of children whilst recognising the need to equip them for the future.

 

English and Maths are our principal foci, together with fostering high self-esteem.

 

We aim to provide children with the skills necessary to enable them to become effective communicators in both spoken and written forms in order for them to take their place in society.

 

We aim to develop confident and enthusiastic readers who will use this skill for the acquisition of knowledge and pleasure.

 

We aim to develop children's ability to analyse, question and argue rationally.

 

We aim to develop confident, competent mathematicians who have an understanding of the structures and processes of mathematics and its relevance to everyday life.

 

We aim to develop children's curiosity, scientific skills and knowledge as the key to understanding the natural and technological world around.

 

We aim to provide children with the skills to use information technology in their everyday lives.

 

We aim to develop children with a strong sense of citizenship, who are confident in their beliefs about social and moral issues.

 

We aim to develop children who can make informed life choices based on a sound knowledge of how to live a healthy life style.

 

We aim to enrich the learning and life of children by providing an opportunity to appreciate art, music and drama.

 

 

Sporting Aims & Provision

 

A healthy lifestyle is something which is developed when young and we want everyone to feel that they can participate is some knid of physical exercise.

 

We aim to provide children with opportunities to participate in a variety of sporting activities, which are recreational as well as competitive.

 

We have a range of after school sports clubs and other activities and we participate in the local sporting leagues.

 

We have a large school field which is equipped with an extensive trim trail. A section of the field has an all weather surface. Year Four children have swimming as part of their curriculum.

 

We work in partnership with Chafford Hundred Campus to continue to improve our physical education provision and create greater opportunities through the School Sports Partnership Programme.
