About Warren Primary School
Warren Primary School was built in 1997 to serve Chafford Hundred, a new community of private housing. The school is within walking distance of Lakeside Regional shopping centre and Chafford Hundred railway station. It is set in pleasant grounds and has a large playing field and adventure playground.
The school has grown from a pupil population of 31 in 1997 to around 440 4-11 year olds, plus 52 3-4 year olds in the Nursery. We also have specialist provision for severely and profoundly deaf children. The children are polite, well motivated and generally high achievers. Our class sizes have a limit of thirty children and all teachers have some adult support.
It is built on one storey and has 16 classrooms plus the Nursery. It has many smaller rooms which are used for small group teaching, speech therapy and community use.
We are regarded as a very inclusive school and we have a high level of support staff. We have less than 10 children who are eligible for free school meals and over 100 for whom English is a second language. The first language for the majority of these children is Yoruba, with some speaking Cantonese or Urdu.
There is a good range of extra curricular activities many of which are run by external professional coaches and everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the free lessons in British Sign Language.
The school runs a before and after school club, Warren Weavers, which includes holiday provision.
