Warren Primary School - Working in Partnership for Success

About Children with Special Needs

The term Special Needs refers to pupils who experience difficulties or who are exceptionally gifted and need provision made for them which differs from the norm. These needs may be mild, severe, transitory or permanent.

A pupil's special need(s) may relate to physical, sensory, intellectual, emotional or behavioural difficulties or a combination of these.

Helping children with Special Needs is a three-way partnership between child, parent and school and there should be full consultation at all times/stages.

It is our intention to ensure that all children are regarded as individuals with equal rights to a broad and balanced curriculum.

The School follows the national code of practice and, should the need arise, this process will be discussed thoroughly with you.

Children who are on the special needs register have a termly meeting with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and the class teacher.

Our building is designed with wheelchair use in mind.

Warren Primary School is the specialist primary resource for deaf children in Thurrock. We aim to teach all the children British Sign Language.
