Inclusion Policy
Philosophy Statement
At Warren we believe that we recognise the different qualities of all children attending the school. We believe that inclusion is more than a concern about any one group of pupils such as those who have been, or are likely to be, excluded from school. Its scope is broad. It is about equal opportunities for all pupils, whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment and background. Inclusion pays particular attention to the provision made for different groups of pupils within Warren and their achievement. It is important to note that this does not mean treating everyone in the same way - rather it involves taking account of our staff and children's varied life experiences and needs.
The term 'Different groups' can apply to any or all of the following:
- Girls and boys
- Minority ethnic and faith groups
- Pupils with English as an additional language
- Pupils with special educational needs
- Gifted and talented children
- Other children, such as sick children, young carers, children from families under stress
- Any children who are at risk of disaffection and exclusion Back to top
Aims

- To embrace the diversity of children in our school
- To increase the participation of children in, and reduce their exclusion from, activities within the school
- To plan sensitively for the learning and participation of all children, particularly those who are vulnerable to exclusionary pressure (not just those with impairments or categorised as 'having special needs')
- To ensure that our school practices are inclusive for staff as well as children
- To arrange teaching groups so that children have opportunities to work with a range of their peers.
- To strive to make the school building accessible to all people
- To give all children the opportunity to succeed and reach the highest level of personal achievement
- To co-ordinate all systems of support
- To use the code of practice to reduce barriers to learning and promote participation of all children
- To provide support for those learning English as an additional language Back to top
