Assessment & Record Keeping Policy
Philosophy Statement
Assessment is vital for recording children's attainment and progress in order to inform future planning and enable teachers, parents and children to have a clear picture of the learning needs of each child and to take steps to ensure these are met. Assessment is an integral part of the educational process and should be incorporated systematically into all aspects of teaching and learning. Back to topAims

Assessment in Practice
Formal assessment is carried out according to the Assessment timetable in terms of English, Mathematics, and Science. These assessments will be completed by all children, although some children with special needs may not complete all of these, or may require additional assessments which are more appropriate to their needs. These children will be identified by the SEN co-ordinator or Teacher of the Deaf, in liaison with the class teacher and Assessment Co-ordinator.These assessments will be the focus of the termly points progress review meetings in order to highlight individual children's progress and any areas of concern. Such concerns will then form the basis of an action plan to implement appropriate support.
Individual records of children's formal assessments are kept in the red class records folders which should be kept in class teacher's cupboards. Back to top
