Collective Worship Policy
Philosophy Statement
As a School we recognise that our community is made up from families of many differing beliefs and faiths. We acknowledge this diversity whilst at the same time endeavouring to foster a sense of fellowship by gathering together on a daily basis to celebrate shared values of the School and community. Our acts of worship aim to allow everyone time to reflect on the fundamental questions of life and focus attention away from the concerns of the moment to those things that are of eternal concern to human beings. Parents are invited to join us on a regular basis. Back to top
Aims
Through our acts of worship we aim to provide opportunities for celebration, thanksgiving and sharing of emotions such as love and joy, fear, reverence and forgiveness. Back to topTime Allocation
There will be a daily assembly lasting around 15 minutes Back to topStructure
Assemblies are planned on half-termly themes. Our acts of worship will generally have three main components:Music
This will help to create an atmosphere when listened to or will help to express feelings when sung.
A Story or Poem Read or Told, Relating To A Theme
This will lead the children into a time of:
Reflection
This is a quiet time when children are encouraged to close their eyes and be very still. Words may be said by the 'leader' to guide their thoughts. Participants would have an opportunity to pray during this time if they so wished.
The School has adopted a creed that forms an integral part of our collective worship. Back to top
